| January 29, 2009 | | Stay at the Hyatt at Beaver Creek ski resort -- with a layaway plan | One of the more interesting trends coming back as a result of the recession is layaway. These programs allow you to make installment payments with no interest and then claim your merchandise when you have paid it off.
And now, it appears that travel is starting to get into the layaway spirit. Wallet Pop reports on how Hyatt is allowing customers to pay for their vacations via layaway:
The website eLayaway,
which facilitates installment payments, has signed up Hyatt hotels as a
merchant and sells gift cards that can be used for stays in its
properties.
This means that if you wanted to take a ski vacation to the Hyatt at Beaver Creek ski resort, you could. You could decide that you wanted to stay there next year, plan out the costs, and then pay for the ski trip in installments ahead of time.
Be warned, though, there are some risks to travel layaway, and you could end up losing money in some circumstances.
