In this economy, many families are looking for ways to include frugality in their outings. When one is going on a family ski vacation, a rental can be a good way to set up a base for a good value. There are some ways that you can save money on a family ski vacation:

Look for special ski deals and packages. During the month of January especially, it is possible to get discounts on lift passes, equipment rental and other items at a ski resort.
Stay in a private ski-in/ski-out property. If you know someone who has ski-in/ski-out property, you can usually get a good deal. This can save you money on lodging.
Make ski resort reservations ahead of time.
