| October 21, 2009 | | Vail real estate market has slowed | The recession has taken its toll on Vail construction starts. Real estate in the Vail ski resort area has been way down, thanks to the housing market crash and tight wallets. However, there is still some building type action going on in the Vail real estate market -- just nothing big.
Indeed, most of the building happening in Vail is more about property owners sprucing things up a bit, reports Vail Daily:
Building is occurring on a much smaller scale than in previous
years with property owners and contractors focusing on home improvement
projects such as re-roofs, window replacements and interior remodels.
Community Development Director George Ruther says.
This may not be great news in terms of expansion, but there are hopes that things will start to pick up again soon for Vail real estate. If things improve for the economy, the housing market is expected to find some support. And when that happens, Vail construction starts may pick up again.
