| September 28, 2009 | | Nature Valley Freestyle Cup comes to Deer Valley in January | In January, the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup World Cup event comes to Deer Valley ski resort in Park City, Utah. The event is one of the biggest to come to Deer Valley on a regular basis, and is highly anticipated. Here is what First Tracks!! Online Ski Magazine offers about the upcoming event:
The freestyle action gets started Jan. 14-16 at Deer Valley, the 2002
Olympic venue, with moguls and aerials events. For three days,
spectators in Utah will be able to watch as the talent of the freestyle
world, which includes aerials World Champion Ryan St. Onge (Winter
Park, Colo.), moguls World Champion Pat Deneen (Cle Elum, Wash.),
moguls World Cup champion and World Championship bronze medalist Hannah
Kearney (Norwich, Vt.), and many more, as they look to pack on one more
World Cup win just two competitions before the Olympics.
"The World Cup at Deer Valley is one of our best marquee competitions
and each year the energy and intensity of the events gets better. They
strive to raise the bar, and accomplish it," USSA Vice President of
Events Calum Clark said. "The resort and organizing committee does an
incredible job at putting on an event that the freestyle community
looks forward to participating in each year."
In addition to this event, which happens just ahead of the 2010 Winter Olympics up in Canada, Deer Valley is also looking forward to hosting FIS Freestyle World Championships in 2011. It looks to be an interesting ski season ahead, with the excitement lasting into the 2010-2011 ski season.
