CNL Lifestyle Properties continues to aggressively make acquisitions and business to business management relationships throughout the ski resort markets areas.
In fact, the word on the street is that CNL Lifestyle Properties, a vacation destination oriented REIT, is currently under contract to purchase Copper Mountain and several other Intrawest ski properties.
Taking advantage of the weak economy and many "developers gone sellers" who want to shed assets to maintain their ground during this recession, the well healed lifestyle property investment REIT is seizing the moment to make deals in several world class Rocky Mountain ski resort markets. In fact, the REIT now owns recently acquired Crested Butte and world renown Lake Tahoe; they are involved with fourteen different ski areas in total.
In the meantime, we'll see if the acquisition of Copper Mountain is a rumor or concrete information. Intrawest also owns Winter Park where they just dumped their ski in ski out vertical inventory for a third of what it was selling for previously. It will be interesting to see if there's not a two for one sale being discussed.
If you have more information about the sale of Copper Mountain, comment below.
On August 24, 2009, Mark Tocszak of RFL Communications commented that this is in fact - A RUMOR. RFL is the PR firm for CNL LIfestyle Properties. CNL Properties has a majority interest in a joint venture with Intrawest. You can reach Mark at: mtosczak@rlfcommunications.com |
