| August 14, 2009 | | Northstar at Lake Tahoe set to get luxury ski resort | For decades, the Northstar area at Lake Tahoe has not had any new ski resort development. That ended in 2006, when a groundbreaking occurred for the Ritz-Carlton. The luxury ski resort is nearing completion, and will open on December 9 of this year. Entertainment Today reports on the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe ski resort:
The Ritz-Carlton is the first new-build resort development in the Tahoe
area in decades and will introduce its legendary service to that area. It
is anticipated to become Northern California’s premier mountain retreat
and is situated mid-mountain in the Northstar-at-Tahoe ski area. Guest
services will feature a mountain concierge with ski-in, ski-out access
in winter, as well as easy access to mountain biking and hiking in the
spring, summer and fall. An inter-mountain gondola will connect guests
between the nearby Village-at-Northstar and the The Ritz-Carlton
Highlands, Lake Tahoe resort. Perched slope-side within a 15 minute
drive to Tahoe and the historic town of Truckee, the year-round
destination resort includes 170 guest rooms, 23 private Ritz-Carlton
Residences and 25 Ritz-Carlton Destination Club fractional ownership
residences.
Other ski resort development projects along Lake Tahoe such as the Tahoe Beach Club, have not been well-received by locals. However, many of them continue to move forward as investors see potential for luxury ski resort development in the area.
