Figuring Out Transport Between River Run, Sun Valley Ski Resort and Ketchum, Idaho

Traffic congestion a problem for Sun Valley real estate
One of the biggest issues facing Sun Valley real estate has to do with the traffic congestion in the popular ski resort area. The resorts in the area are open year round, with a number of summer activities. Additionally, the corridor serves as a conduit to Central Idaho recreation opportunities in the Sawtooth mountains and along the Salmon River.

As Ketchum prepares to annex River Run, the traffic problem is even more pronounced. As a way to ease traffic congestion, leaders in the Sun Valley area are considering ways to connect Sun Valley ski resort, River Run and Kethcum. Idaho Mountain Express reports on the issue:

"With current traffic congestion, and with impending resort and hotel development in the area, we must study and consider environmental and efficient solutions to connect our communities," Everett wrote. "We believe now is the time to address future increased traffic congestion in Ketchum's core, and to preserve its pedestrian character."

According to the committee, possible transportation options include an expanded bus system and a "fixed guideway alternative" such as a trolley or gondola.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Whatever they do, though, better be soon. Traffic is truly becoming an issue in the Ketchum and Sun Valley areas.
