Vail Valley Real Estate Down 72% in First Quarter of 2009

Looks like the Vail Valley and Eagle County real estate statistics show the recession has hit ski country in a big way

Even worse than predicted in this earlier post, Ealgle County reale estate volume is OVER seventy percent off of last year for the first quarter.

Land Title Guarantee Company releases first quarter Vail Valley real estate sales statistics today and the news is not pretty.

Total dollar volume is down 72% in the first quarter of 2009 compared with 2008. In addition, in March the number of transactions was the lowest on record - EVER for Eagle County with only 44 properties selling in the entire month.

These statistics are so bad, we probably don't want to make any more light of them than we have to. But, if you want to really look at where Vail Valley real estate is right now, it's important to note that over 20 million of the nearly 60 million of the sales volume in March is represents 3 properties of the 44 transacted. Now, you do the math. ;-)
