Teton Canyon Closed for Avalanche Preparation

Access to the Jackson Hole ski resort area will be limited
Right now, there is some worry about the state of the road that winds through Teton Canyon on its way to Jackson Hole (and the ski resorts in the area). Avalanches are not unexpected in the wild and rugged land surrounding Jackson Hole, Wyoming, so it is no surprise that the road is being closed while crews can do what they can to prepare the canyon for possible avalanches.

This is especially important this year, as there has been a great deal of snow. Many a ski resort has seen more snow that has been present in recent years, so it is no wonder that the danger of avalanche has gone up. In Jackson Hole, the danger has already been seen, as a recent avalanche affected a local eatery.

There is no official word about when the road through Teton Canyon will be open again. But for those whose destination is a Jackson Hole ski resort, there are other roads in, as well as air service.
