| November 03, 2008 | | With more snow, comes more skiers -- even with a bum economy | Many consumers are slowing down their consumption. And that includes making noises about not hitting the slopes as often this year. According to industry experts, though, these skiers may talk the talk now, but they could end up skiing anyway, Freep.com reports:
"If it snows and we have a great snow year, the impact of the economy
tends to be negligible," said Michael Berry, president of the Lakewood,
Colo.-based National Ski Areas Association. "If there are early,
significant snows, people will find a way to bring their families and
friends together to share time in the mountains."
When the skiing is good, people tend to want to take advantage of that. So it's no surprise that ski resort owners are hoping for plenty of snow -- as soon as possible.
