Real Estate still "good" in Ski Country

According to a recent article in the Vail Daily, the real estate market in the high country is still pretty decent

Even though transaction volume is down, prices on property seem to be holding or declining slightly leaving the central Rockies ski real estate markets generally in tact.  Most ski area real estate number of transactions for the first half of 2008 are hovering just over 50% of transaction volume as compared to 2006 and 2007.  However, dollar volume is off in most areas less than 35%.

There is very little panic selling in ski country as this recent meeting in the article below suggests.  Realtors were interviewed from Summit, Grand, Pitkin, Garfield and Eagle County in Colorado.

It will be interesting to see what happens with real estate sales as we move closer to ski season.

My prediction is that these ski markets will continue to recover and we will see an increase in transaction volume for the year leveling off at around 65%.
